The MENTOR 7 Light is the result of a brand new "2.5 line" hybrid design and benefits from all the research experience resulting from the development of the XENON. The performance is thus significantly improved and the cross-country potential further expanded. Its light and clever construction also meets the durability requirements that can be expected from an EN-B class sail.
2.5 lines | 66 cells | elongation: 5.5 | weight: from 3.65 kg - size XXS (EN/LTF B)
The best compromise.
Philipp Medicus, head of research and development at NOVA explains to us: “With two and a half lines we were able to increase performance while maintaining remarkable piloting comfort compared to many 3 lines. By its original design, the MENTOR 7 is very different from the MENTOR 6; the evolution between version 6 and 7 is greater than between 2 and 6! Everything is new, except of course the pilot and the potential to go far!
Lightweight and smart construction.
The MENTOR 7 Light is made up of 66 cells, assembled in a complex internal structure designed for lightness and a uniform distribution of forces in the blade, ensuring the MENTOR 7 Light an optimal glide and a longevity to match all the adventures of Hike & Fly.
Range of action.
The performance of the MENTOR 7 Light, like the entire MENTOR series, is essentially based on the ease of access to all the performance of the sail. At high speed, the stability of the profile, and the pitch control at the "C" gives it increased agility and robustness, particularly effective for tackling turbulent areas. Cushioning and safety are the hallmark of MENTORs. This version 7 behaves in a docile manner when exiting the flight envelope, in particular thanks to its moderate aspect ratio (5.5). The max speed is also improved from the previous version. Everything you need to consider going even further.
Effective pitch control.
The MENTOR 7 Light is equipped as standard with adjustable handles on the "C" (called "HAC Handles": Height Adjustable C-handles) allowing precise and fast pitch control in accelerated flight, previously only accessible to 2 lines, like the XENON. It is thus easy to control the incidence and compensate for the effect of turbulence. As for cross-country pilots in progress, the approach to this new piloting technique will be more gradual and thus more easily assimilated (see explanations below).
Careful design.
Like the XENON its big sister, the MENTOR 7 Light now requires the inclusion of stiffeners in the structure of the wing. So the "Easy Packing" philosophy and the simple stuffing of the sail in the bag are over. Make way for pure performance. Folding remains very simple, however, and by using the Pack Roll provided, the lifespan of the rods will be greatly increased. Note: When purchasing a MENTOR 7 Light you can opt for a Concertina Bag Light or a carrying bag.
Multi-function lifters.
One of the major technological advances of the new Speedbrake Riser 2.0 is of course the “HAC Handles”. Another interesting feature is the appearance of the “Baby-B Lines” which act on the B3 line. The risers, thus more technical, nevertheless unravel very simply and clearly on takeoff. Also, without a C3 line, the action on the Cs is very effective in lowering the wing to the ground.
